Spoon mule |
Jun. 31/2020 I made a spoon mule that can quickly sandwich small ingredients when making a spoon. It can be easily attached to the handmade shaving hose in last month.Drawing |
.I think the material is cedar. It has a beautiful wood grain. |
.Cu‚” it with a band saw. |
.A part to be used for the saddle and a member to be inserted into the mainframe of the shaving hose. |
.Make a saddle. First, make a cut from the back with a hand saw. |
.Next, make a cut from ‚“ides of two. |
.Finally, cut off unnecessary parts with a chisel. It took a lot of time. |
.Next, make a square hole for the arm that holds the spoon. At first a 6mm hole was drilled. Because I was going to cut a square hole with a fret saw. |
.However, I thought it was difficult with fret saw because of the thick material. So, I re-drilled 20mm holes in the four corners with the fastener bits. |
.Cut into squares with a compass saw . |
.Make a cut from the back to the ruled line with a hand saw from the back of saddle. Then finish with a chisel. |
.It backside after sanding. |
.This is the surface. |
.Make the tip jaw of the arm that holds the spoon material. Mark the workpiece as per the drawing and cut with a slide saw. |
.Finish with disc sander. |
.Adjust the delicate angle of the tip with a disc sander. |
.Drill a 3.5mm hole for attach the arm to the saddle. |
.Insert the arm into the saddle, adjust the position and mark the drilling position with a Power drill. Use a long pilot bit to penetrate the arm. |
.Drilling 3.5mm along the pilot hole. |
.Make a V-groove with a 90 degree bit. |
.I think this groove is necessary to stabilize the spoon member. |
.Make a groove with a 28mm flat bit to release the point of the spoon. |
.The upper surface of the saddle with completed grooves. |
.Rounded with a plane. |
.Make the rod for connecting the spoon mule and shaving hose. that is Japanese ash. |
.Connect the shaving hose and spoon mule with a round bar. |
.A 3.2mm coated steel wire was used to connect the saddle to the arm. One side is bent into an L-shape to make it easier to pinch when pulling out the steel wire. |
.Hammered steel wire. |
.The jaw of the arm has a maximum gap of 20mm. |
When attaching a spoon mule to a shaving hose, the horse's table is raised and retracted. |
From the top, you can see that it is compact. |
When I straddle, there is a saddle in the right position, so I think that it is probably easier to work. |
A spoon mule can also be placed on the folded shaving hose. |
