Woody tongs |
Sep. 20/2020 I made a salad bowl with a louver. So I made this one because I thought the tongs that fit this bowl were wood.Drawing |
1.The part that becomes the handle of the tongs is a 2.6 mm thick sword wood. It can be cut with a saw, but this time it was cut with a laser machine. |
2.It was able to cut at an output of 3.5 W, a speed of 200 mm/min, and 8 times. |
|
3.The hinge part is Japanise ash. Mark the blank with a laser machine. This marking is for cutting the groove that holds the handle with a table saw. |
4.Cut the material along the mark. Finish the slanted part at the bottom with a disc sander. |
|
5.When grooving with a table saw, insert a discard plate on the back side of the work piece to make the top edge straight. |
6.Blank material with two grooves cut. |
|
7.To cut into a circle, the corners were cut off with a hand saw and then ground with a disc sander. |
8.Grind the part where the thumb and forefinger of the handle touch with a spherical sanding bit. Then polish with #320 sandpaper. |
|
9.Laser engrave the name on the side of the handle. |
10.Bond the handle and hinge with a yellow bond. and, finish with "kigatame ace". |
|
When I grabbed the tongs, it has just the right amount of elasticity and feels good. |

I think this tongs looks great with a louvered salad bowl. |
