Carrying case for chopstick |
Nov. 8/2020 For decades, I've had lunch at the employee cafeteria. However, the cafeteria became a box lunch due to the COVID-19 virus disaster, and it became cafeteria where we stopped talking became lonely. I've always been interested in my grandson's box lunch that my wife makes, and when I tried muttering "I think it's delicious," I was surprised to hear "Let's make it." So, I immediately bought a wooden lunch box and carrying chopsticks from web shop, but there is no case to put chopsticks. So, I made my own sliding carry case.Drawing |
1.Two types of materials were used alder and japanese ash. First, Grooving with a 19 mm straight bit. |
2.The slide cover is also cut out from this area, so a wide material is used. |
|
3.Make a 1mm deep groove for the cover with a 3/8" keyhole bit. |
4.After cutting out a lid with a thickness of 5 mm, adjust the edge to a thickness of 4 mm. |
|
5.Cut the total length to 140mm with the cover inserted. |
6.The glued edge plate cannot withstand long-term use. Reinforce with pins there. |
|
7.Use a 2mm bamboo stick for the pin.Trimmed a 3mm bamboo stick to 2mm. |
8.Drive in the bamboo sticks. And sanding. |
|
9.Use a chisel to carve a dent that hooks your finger on the cover. |
10.The finished unpainted case. The top is Japanese ash wood and the front side is alder |
|
11.The cover moves lightly, so it's likely to slide when shaken. Therefore, I decided to put neodymium magnets in the main body and lid. This was purchased on the web and is 2mm in diameter and 1.5mm thick. |
12.Drilling a 1.5 mm in the edge plate at the entrance of the slide cover of the main body. |
|
13.Drilling a 1.5mm in the cover. Offset this hole slightly outward. |
14.Use a two-part epoxy adhesive to bond the magnets. |
|
Paint with wood-hardening urethane so that it can be washed with water. |

Put in a portable chopstick. It fits just right. |

I'm looking forward to carrying this chopstick case with my lunch. |
