| Remodeling HEPA filter of dust collector |
| Apr. 1/2022 The canister filter of the dust collector DC-90R2 has a built-in rotating fin that drops dust, but it no longer rotates. It seems that the bevel gear is worn out and slips, so I remodeled it to a direct connection method that does not use gears. |
| | | |
| 1.When the handle at the bottom of the filter is turned, the fins inside rotate and hit the pleats of the filter to remove dust. | 2.Removed the filter and looked from the back side. | |
| | | |
| 3.When the center cover is removed, the bevel gear is included. Dust was clogged in this and the gear was worn. | 4.A rubber plate is attached to the tip of the spring steel on the center shaft, which hits the pleats of filter to remove dust. | |
| | | |
| 5.This time, we will remodel the center shaft into a structure that rotates directly from the upper side, so unnecessary shafts and bevel gears have been removed. | 6.The top of the filter. M6 screws hang the center axle. If you turn the center shaft, the screw will also turn, so you can fix the handle here. | |
| | | |
| 7.Removed handle and horizontal axis. | 8.Cut the part where the handle of the horizontal axis was contained by about 30 mm. | |
| | | |
| 9.Drilling 5mm pilot hole for M6. | 10.Finish the end face. | |
| | | |
| 11.M6 tap. | 12.Screw in the M6 bolt. | |
| | | |
| 13.Cut leaving about 10 mm of screw part. | 14.Remove the M6 screw on the top and screw in this shaft instead. | |
| | | |
| 15.It becomes like this when the handle is inserted. | 16.Next, make a cap that closes the horizontal shaft hole of the bevel gear. Turning while matching with the support plate of the shaft. | |
| | | |
| 17.Insert the cap from the back of the support. | 18.Attach the support plate to the filter. | |

| Remodeling is completed so that it can be turned from above. Since there is not much space at the top, I had to pull out the dust collector body when turning it, but this is unexpectedly troublesome. So,I decided to modify it so that it could be turned with a ratchet instead of the handle. | ||
| | | |
| 21.There was a 3/8 "long nut and bolt in the junk box, so I decided to use it. | 22.Screw in the bolt firmly. | |
| | | |
| 23.Drilling 5mm pilot hole for M6. | 24.M6 tap. | |
| | | |
| 25.After screwing in the M6 long screw, I decided to drive in the spring pin so that the ratchet would not fall down. First,Drilling 4mm. | 26.Drive in the pin. | |
| | | |
| 27.Screw the created shaft on the top of the filter. | 28.This is a rapid ratchet wrench sold by Fujikin Co., Ltd., which is an excellent one with 90 teeth feed angle of 4 degrees and fine and smooth movement. | |

| This makes it possible to remove dust without moving the dust collector. | ||
