Trunk Shelf for SUBARU "Forester Advance"

Dec. 4/2022
I wasn't interested in Vandwelling in the car,but I started climbing last year and thought it was a good base camp. So I bought a portable power supply, a lantern and others. I made a shelf to put them and the portable refrigerator in trunk my car.Drawing
.The material is 28mm Creform Pipe.Cut to the length as shown in the drawing with a special cutter.
.These are cut pipes and joints.
.This is a hard cap that covers the tip of the leg.
.It made a temporary assembly and put it on the trunk, and it seemed that there was no problem, so I poured the creform pipe adhesive into the joint and fixed it.
.Next is the processing of the top plate. The back door of the car is curved, so make a mold out of cardboard to match it.
.The paper pattern was completed with minor modifications.
.Cut a 400 x 9 mm wide plywood to a length of 1220 mm.
.Place the paper pattern and mark the plywood with a felt-tip pen.
.Invert the pattern and mark it on the right side.
.It was able to make a beautiful mark.
.Clamp the plywood to the workbench and cut it with a jigsaw.
.Place the frame of the creform pipe on the cut plywood and fix it with screws.
.After tightening all the screws, pour the adhesive for creform pipe into the joint and fix it.
.In order to improve the water resistance of plywood, It decided to put a cutting sheet on the surface. It is a sheet with a wood grain pattern that is 450 mm wide and 1300mm long.
.If you stick the curved surface while warming it with a hair dryer, it will adhere neatly.
.A guard was attached to prevent objects placed on the shelves from slipping off.
.The guard is attached to the table with four 25mm hinges.
.Anti-tilt hooks were attached to both sides so that the guard could be fixed at a right angle.
.When remove the anti-tilt hook, the guard hides under the table.
.Rubber bands with hooks were attached to both sides of the frame to prevent the shelves from moving in the trunk.
.There are 4 hooks on the Forester's trunk, so hook them and fix them.
.I thought this was a good idea, but the rubber band stretched unexpectedly, so I thought it would be dangerous for the shelves to move during sudden braking, so I decided to fix it in a different way.
.I had a one-touch band with a buckle that I bought for 1 $, so I decided to use it.
.Since the length is 130 cm, Cut it and put it through the buckle, and glued the folded part. The file holder is cut and covered so that the adhesive does not stick to the vise when crimping with a vise.
.Using "CEMEDINE Super X2" as the adhesive.
.Hold for 24 hours by sandwiching it in a vise.
.It is firmly glued.
.Put the hook in the band.
.Hook the hook of the band on the hook of the trunk, pull the band lightly and fix it with Velcro. It's perfect.
.It takes time to loosen the velcro when removing the hook, but it is not bothersome.
.Put a cutting sheet on the shelf, which made my luggage slippery. So I bought a non-slip sheet from Amazon.
.Cut the sheet with scissors to match the curved surface.
.If it lay the sheet with the uneven surface facing up, it will not slip more than you imagined.
.Actually put it in the trunk room. Since there is a gap of about 40 mm on the left and right, the tilt stop hook can be operated without any problem.
The shelves are firmly fixed with a one-touch band.
A state in which the non-slip guard is raised and a non-slip sheet is laid.
Seen from inside the car, it looks like this. The shelves fit the curved surface of the back door of the car.
The non-slip guard is down. When vandwelling, put your luggage on the shelves and input feet under the shelves to sleep.
