The Chinese style turn table

Dec. 07/2003
I had been regarding the turn table of the China style as wanting for some time.
I decided to make a turn table using the PVC board of thickness 10mm gathered by junkyard, and the turn unit got from the son.
As for this PVC board, a diameter also has 820mm.

I made the disk for hiding a turn unit first.
Material is the pine of thickness 30mm.
I adopted splined butt joint. turning is easy.
However, it turned with the sufficient tune too much, and the inside child came out.

Since a rotation unit and a PVC board are fixed on the screw of M6, a nut with a nail is embedded.
After making a hole by ø7mm, spot-facing is carried out using a chsel so that a nut may sink.

I drove the nut with a nail using mallet.
They are a total of eight places on the front reverse side.

I made part of a leg from Japanese oak. and It's lap joint.
If there is band-saw, such cutting can also make difficulty there be nothing.

A rotation unit is previously fixed with a bolt on a leg.
I used the tapping bolt of M6*20L.

Next, it turns over and a disk is fixed with the bolt of M6*20L.

Although it is in the photograph, white Veneer is stuck on the surface of the disk.

Finally a PVC board is fixed on the plate screw of M6, and it is completion.
However, when put on the table, in ø820mm, it was too large.
It was disrepute at My family. I cut off to ø620mm by band-saw tearfully.
I attached the plant with beautiful leaves to the central basket after that.
