There is a landing net in the accessories which are indispensable for the fly fishing.
I have Marketing Net now. However, I thought that the manufacture process of Net seems to be interesting.
At first, I make the model for frame forming. Since the width of a frame is 15mm, the thickness beyond it is required for model plate. However, with the stock, thickness I had only the plywood which is 12mm. I glue together 3mm plywood and 12mm plywood.
Because I was requested to do the monitor test of the New white glue from the "Sun star Giken Co," I used it.
I pictured the Pattern of Landing net at the kraftpaper and copied it into the model.
Pattern Please, see.
A pattern is used once again.
Don't break yet.
I sawed off in Fret saw and I polishes the around with the sandpaper. Here, the right-angle is important.
The material is madorone barl which was bought by the Yahoo auction.
It sliced to 16 mm with band saw because there was a thickness by 25 mm, and I planed it.
I cuts off the grip part of the pattern and I copies it into the grip material.
I thinks that the bigger material is good to make a curve net.
I sawed off and I polishes the around with the sandpaper.
I thinks that the work, too, progresses if there is spindle sander when polishing.
Also, the chamfering is strict prohibition. When chamfering, gap will be made in the grip and the frame.
Let's be careful.
I mounts the circle stick of 5 mm around model to fix a frame material on model.
It is not problem functionally with the wood screws or the nails.
However, I have been crazy about such a jig.
It sticks out a circle stick by 12 mm to both sides of model.
Therefore, the full length is 40 mm. and It is 31 in all.
I made such jig to be cut to the constant length.
The part where R is tight makes a pace short.
The work is end today.
Next process is the bend of the frame material.
Feb. 15/2004
This time, it is the bend of the frame. The material is maple and walnut which I was bought by the auction.
It's 15 mm width, a 1.5 mm thickness, 1220 mm length. I assumed that the thickness of the frame is 6 mm.
I made to put in two sheets of walnuts from both sides by the maple. Besides, the board for the protection is necessary.
It protects the trace of the string outside the frame. I bought a Japanese cypress with 15 mm width, 2 mm thickness at the home center at 50 yen.
However, it is necessary to join on the way because the length is only 900 mm.
I soaks their all material in the hot water of the bathtub beforehand at 1 night.
Then, the board bends with the limpness like the rubber. I arranges for the end of five sheets of boards and it distorts it along the model of plywood.
I tie frame on the circle stick with PP tape. Lastly, I fix a powerful rubber band on the tight part of the curve.
And, dry up for about 1 week.
I made a plane for the ditch to dig around the frame. I call it Rabbit Plane.
When observing the net which I am using now, as for the ditch, both the width and the depth are about 1.5mm.
First, I shaved the blade of the jigsaw like the grinder photograph.
Next, I cuts a ditch in the center of the block with 15 mm width and it glues together a blade with the epoxy glue.
and I sets the board which becomes a guide to both sides of the block, I drives in the pin of ø5 and it is completion.
Next time, process is the gluing of the grip and the frame.
Feb. 22/2004
Although it will spread in the spring back if it removes from a model, it has bended at the tight portion of an curve finely.
I uses epoxy glue for the gluing of the frame.
epoxy glue is troublesome when it sticks out.
It is because it isn't possible to wipe up easily.
Therefore, I stuck a cellophane tape in the surface which doesn't apply glue.
I rolled up with the urethane tape so as not for the gap to form in the board.
Also, the tape had better use double wideth cloth as much as possible.
An urethane tape has moderate bolting power, and since it is soft, a crack is not attached to frame material, either.
Before adhesives harden, a rubber band pulls, and a form is prepared once again.
I makes dry up for about 8 hour and removes urethane tape.
and, dry up.
Next time, it is debut of the Rabbit Plane.
March 10/2004
The net making is the last spurt.
It removes an urethane tape, it drops the glue which is in the surface with sandpaper #120 and it cuts a grip to fixed length.
Actually, it attempted to have and it made a balance about 8 mm longer than the idea pattern.
Rabbit Plane.
I'm possible to shave simply when inserting Rabbit Plane in the frame and pulling it in front lightly.
The finish condition, too, is good.
This Rabbit Plane is recommendation.
The application range seems to spread to the people except the net making, too.
I made the heaton to put to the grip end, too.
I makes a drill hole of ø2.5 mm in the side of the brass circle stick of ø6 mm, it is cut and it puts a step to the 15 mm length with the lathe.
It is possible to form simply with the file because it is brass.
It is completion when polishing last with the blue bar.
I drill hole for the heaton insertion in the grip end.
It is ø4.5mm.
I drill hole for the net installation in the frame.
It is ø2mm.
There is not limitation in the number of the holes because it is for the release net.
I did marking of the drill position of 35 places to the ditch of the frame by 18mm pitch.
To be important makes a hole, being perpendicular to the frame.
I uses and polishes #180, #230, #320 of the sandpaper earnestly.
Next time, Oil finishing.
March 21/2004
I was irresolute about whether it is an urethane coat or an oil in finish.
However, I decided on the tung oil and buffing finish which I interested recently by the wood turning.
It is hardness finish, the waterproof are high and the tung oil is the classy oil which is harmless on it.
I was coating twice.
Buffing.
I used Tripoli bar White bar and Carnauba wax for buffing.
Please see
works-4 of the wood turning if wanting to know in detail about baffing.
It became very beautiful in the buffing.
I bought the release -type net which is made by C&F.
It is possible to attach the net beautifully when stopping a net temporarily beforehand with the washing clips.
Next fishing time, I will breathe life into the Net.
Apr. 10/2004
I was breathe life into the Net in Kamikatsu river.
I thinks that curve-net is easy to use.
