Small Plate
I found the board of the red oak with 40 mm thickness, 1100 mm length when putting material in order. Year before last, it is the one to have bought from WOODY COSMOS Co,.
.I cut into ø100 mm in band saw. 11 disks came off. This time, I thinks that I like mass production.
.Because I uses screw chuck first in this time, I drill a ø7 mm hole in the center of the disk. The depth is about 18 mm.
.This screw chuck was attachment to 50 mm collet chuck. I sets 12 mm plywood circularly as the spacer because the front surface is narrow. This collet chuck is for the KERV mini lathe.
.It fixes a disk in turn screw chuck. Next, I turned the part which becomes a bottom in bowl gouge and parting tool.
.I sanding the surface of it. I used sandpapers #180, #240, #320.
.I soaks a little teak oil in the rag and it polishes a part in the bottom. There oil dry at once with the frictional heat.
.I exchanges screw chuck to bantam chuck and I turn the down part which becomes the surface of the bowl. The use tool is a skew and bowl gouge.
.I polishes it with teak oil. It is one cycle in this. However, because to exchange chuck is troublesome, it is more efficient to advance towards the following process after centering and doing the process which uses screw chuck and all of it end.
.I made various plate. The one with the different form of the center is the toothpick putting to have made with zelkova tree.
.I thinks that it is easy to turn teak more than that it expected it. Because I leave some disks, next, it wants to do a different shape. I mass produce plate and will sell it in the flea market.
.I bought teak-oil by the Net shop site of Marine-shop.
.I introduces toothpick putting, too. I thinks that the already a little smaller one is better. This is a zelkova tree.
